Hanging Group
The Hanging Group meets in the Session House every Tuesday evening between 7 and
9pm
.
The group enjoys learning and participating in a variety of textile and sewing techniques ranging from a slip stitch to weaving. Our last project was focused on festive hangings to decorate the church, which were dedicated at the Watch night service. The group provides a friendly and relaxed atmosphere for men and women of all ages to meet socially and participate in the production of new hanging projects.
What happened to the Millennium Tree?
In response to the many queries about the disappearance of the Millennium Tree, the Hanging Group would like to report that nothing sinister has happened to it - it has simply been taken down for renovation!
Over the years since it was first unveiled, it has faded very badly; many of the names on the leaves are now almost illegible and much of the colour has gone from the background and other painted areas.
The HG hope to restore it to a more stable condition, but as this will take some considerable time we hope you will be patient.
What's New?
The group is working on a "Secret Wishing" hanging, taken from the "blessing hand" on the stained-glass window. You make a secret prayer or wish, it is rolled up and will be placed on the hanging. As we need almost 1000 wishes, there will be many oppotunities to make your wish over the coming months. We are asking for a donation of £1 per wish towards the hall refurbishment fund.
In September, the group will start work on the piece of cloth given to us by our friends in Zimbabwe.
